(February 22, 2026) In a vote of 127 “yes” and 14 “no,” the Pasadena Community Church membership approved a resolution offered by the PCC Discernment Committee to replace the Hamilton Building and the sanctuary with a new worship center. Six provisional ballots were cast (five in favor and one against) and one person voted to abstain.

The vote means that the church council will begin, right away, taking nominations for several key committees that will pave the path forward. Within the next week, Pastor Mark will announce how to nominate someone or volunteer yourself. Our goal is that every member be involved in this process of reimagining our church future.
The committees (set out in the resolution) will include:
A committee to determine what items in the Hamilton, Chapel and Sanctuary can be preserved, stored and reused in a new worship center. This committee will also interview demolition contractors and make recommendations to the One Church Board (Council). This committee may also include a subcommittee to take a deeper look at the most complex issues such as the future plans for pipe organ and stained glass. This committee will involve research, interviewing potential contractors and discernment about what to save and what to let go to a new home.
A committee that will work with an outside consultant to draft a new master plan for the campus, determining what our future buildings needs should include. This master plan will give architects the guidelines that will inform designs that they will submit in their bidding. The congregation will decide the final design. As Pastor Mark has said in many meetings, our hope is that this Master Plan Committee will include a range of members from those who have been members for decades to new members, seniors, young people, and young families.
A Building Committee: the work of this committee will begin after the Master Plan committee completes it’s work. The building committee will solicit bidders, review architectural plans and make a recommendation to the Church Council and congregation about the design of the new worship center. This committee then works with the builder to complete construction.
A committee to imagine ways to improve sound, lighting and decorating in the LEC to reflect that space as a worship center for the time that it takes to design and build a new worship center. If you are creative, have experience in staging spaces and have a passion for worship spaces, this committee needs your input. The technical aspects of this work will be handled by an audio/visual contractor that was involved with the transformation of the LEC audio system in 2025.
