The motion that will voted on by church members Sunday Feb. 22, 2026

Pasadena Community Church

All Church Conference

February 22, 2026

Resolution:

WHEREAS: On October 9, 2024, Hurricane Milton struck the Pasadena Community Church sanctuary, and the congregation has not been able to worship there since.

WHEREAS: On August 24, 2025, the Pasadena Community Church All Church Conference unanimously voted to suspend the 2022 Masterplan and appoint a Discernment Team to evaluate the viability of both the Sanctuary and Hamilton buildings.

WHEREAS: The Pasadena Community Church Discernment Team has spent more than six months of prayer and study. This included interviews with structural engineers, environmental inspectors, and building contractors; two congregation-wide presentations and open discussions; and six small group meetings with over 100 members and church attendees.

WHEREAS: The overwhelming evidence presented to the Discernment Team showed that renovating the Hamilton Building and the Sanctuary would exceed the costs of building a new facility. And, a new facility would better meet the modern needs of the congregation and would require significantly less to maintain compared to aging buildings.

WHEREAS: On January 29, 2026, the Pasadena Community Church Discernment Team voted unanimously to bring its recommendation to an All Church Conference on February 22, 2026.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Pasadena Community Church Conference takes the following actions:

1. Authorize the demolition of the Hamilton Building and the Sanctuary and authorize and direct the Church Council to appoint a team to coordinate demolition of both buildings;

2. Authorize and direct the Church Council to appoint a congregation-wide Masterplan Team to identify and contract with a consultant to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the church mission and building needs with a plan to be submitted to a Church Conference Vote.

3. Authorize and direct the Church Council to appoint the necessary teams to ascertain reusable items from both buildings and to coordinate the recovery and storage of such items

5. Authorize and direct the Church Council to appoint a Building Committee to select and employ construction design professionals to recommend, based on input from the Church Membership and the conclusions of the Masterplan Team, a design for a new building to be submitted to a Church Conference vote.

6. Authorize and direct the Church Council to appoint a team to implement upgrades to Jerger Hall (LEC Gym) for sound, lighting, and aesthetics.
