Pasadena Community Church and Mattamy Homes have closed the deal to sell the first of two church-owned parcels known as the “soccer field” property.
The sale netted PCC $3,561,210.
Trustees Chair Teresa Livingston signed the documents to close the sale Monday afternoon (October 6th). For Building Oversight Committee Chairman Scott Russell, this is the culmination of nearly three years of work

Mattamy Homes is also purchasing the second parcel that currently includes the preschool and thrift shop buildings. That sale is expected to close in about one year.
Approximately $2.7 million of the proceeds from this first parcel sale will be allocated to an investment account, and the remainder will cover various improvements to the Life Enrichment Center, including repairing leaks, replacing air conditioners, exterior painting, and other deferred maintenance projects. (A private donation recently covered the cost of a new roof.) A donor contributed $2 million to renovate parts of the LEC to become the new PCC preschool. The detailed engineering planning for that project is underway, and construction will begin within a matter of months. You can see the floor plans for that project here.
The PCC Discernment Committee is conducting a detailed examination of the condition of our church buildings and the costs/benefits of repairing them. Due to the hurricane damage to the sanctuary and the deteriorated condition of the Hamilton Building, it is already clear that the combined sale of the two parcels will not generate the revenue needed to fulfill the original vision described in the 2022 Master Plan. Soon, the committee will make recommendations to Trustees and the church membership about how the church might re-envision the Master Plan and make the best use of our church property and the income from these land sales.
Very few local churches have received the outpouring of blessings that have showered PCC this year.
In our 100th year, we now find ourselves on a path to renewal.
