(October 25, 2024) Keep in mind these are “target” dates, so any range of issues might delay or change them, but for now, Pasadena Community Church and Onyx+East are planning to close on the two property parcels one year apart.
Our new target to close on the soccer field land is June of 2025 and June of 2026 for closing on the pre-school land. Once the closing occurs for the soccer field property, the church will have the money needed to initiate the renovations of the LEC to become the new home to the preschool. The second closing date is important to keep in mind because that would be the target date to be moved to the new preschool building.
The Building Oversight Committee is in active conversations with Churches by Daniels to do the detailed architectural design work for the new preschool. And, Churches by Daniels can provide a more precise cost for the work. Once the church calculates exactly what spaces will be needed to accommodate the preschool, the designers can draft the precision details for everything from plumbing to walls, playgrounds and security.
These new target dates are in line with what the BOC has been predicting for some time. If they hold, then the preschool would be moved sometime in mid 2026, most likely after the end of the school semester and before summer camp begins.
