The Pinellas County Board of Commissioners approved the rezoning request by Onyx+East and Pasadena Community Church that will allow the development of the “soccer field” and the preschool, thrift shop and afterschool program. This is the last of the city and county hearings, a process that has taken us a year and a half to complete. We are thankful for our pastors, Building Oversight Committee, Trustees , Church Council, and faithful members for patiently, thoughtfully, and prayerfully leading this process.
The 5-1 county commission vote means Onyx+East will begin site planning and the permitting process needed to begin construction. While timelines are always fluid in projects like this, the sale of the soccer field property will likely close sometime in the second quarter of 2025.
This step also means PCC will begin working with an architect to design the renovations to the LEC that will become the new home to the preschool.
Again, we remind everyone that this is a long process and nothing happens quickly. We will continue to document every step of the planning.
