Church moves closer to land sale

(November 9, 2023) After nearly a year of work, The Pasadena Community Church Building Oversight Committee moved closer today to selecting a buyer for the two properties that the church membership approved for sale. The Committee recently interviewed two potential buyers/developers and voted to enter into detailed purchase discussions with one of the developers.

The property is still listed for sale and will remain listed until a contract is signed by both parties. Once a contract is signed, it might still be a up to a year before the sale closes and even beyond that before a developer could begin construction. Such projects usually include an “inspection” period in which developers/buyers work out detailed plans for their development and seek local government approval for such plans. It is not unusual for such inspection periods in St. Petersburg to last many months, even a year. Because of that, even with a signed contract, the deal is not “done” until the inspection period is complete and the sale “closes.”

Within a matter of weeks, we may have an update on the negotiations with the developer including a purchase price and potential plans for the two sites.

The Committee reminds everyone, especially families at the Pasadena Community Church Preschool, that any plan to move the preschool classes to a newly renovated LEC building would still be at least a year away, possibly longer.
